Design Up+Rising: Facing Challenges with a Positive Twist

Today’s world is undeniably fragile, complex, and rapidly changing in almost every aspect. This new era has come to be called the ‘BANI World’ – Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, and Incomprehensible. People are thus confused and vulnerable, both mentally and physically, and so develop negative attitudes towards themselves and their surroundings.
    As the world becomes more chaotic, people grow increasingly stressed and anxious, discouraging them from thinking outside the box. Design becomes even more seen as being decorative and unnecessary for life and society. This, in turn, causes designers to lose their passion.
    It is time for the design industry to demonstrate “what design can do” – how it can help people adapt, solve problems, and face these challenges.
    Let’s work together to transform negative energy into a positive one, despair into hope, and challenges into solutions. Our goal is to make design play a more significant role in driving life, society, and cities forward like never before.
    Bangkok Design Week 2025 (BKKDW2025) invites everyone in the design industry and other creative fields, as well as anyone who wants to create change, to rise up, view every problem from a positive perspective and to transcend limitations in unprecedented ways while elevating the value of design together.
