The Design Project of City Identity and Way finding Signage System for Promoting Tourism in Koh Mook, Trang Province
Koh Mook is one of the islands in Trang sea. The island is divided into two sides: the west and the east coasts. The west side is where the famous beautiful and spectacular Morakot Cave (Emerald Cave) locates. There are no beaches nor any accommodations on this side. On the other side, there is the Muslim village with a beautiful beach. The villagers mostly earn a living as fishers and still remain the traditional way of life along with opening a homestay in order to generate more income for family and community.
However, the other side of Koh Mook is still infamous among both Thai and foreign tourists. Therefore, the Design Project of City Identity and Signage System is invented for the island to promote tourism by connecting the relationship between the simplicity of the villagers' lifestyle and the fascinated nature. This is exclusive for the tourist who wants to get away from the chaotic urban life and feel the nature. This style of tourism does not only promote the eco-tourism but also generate income for the community.
